One of the best times of the year to spend at Disneyland is the Christmas holiday. All the lights and rides and characters take on a special holiday flavor. And you can join in the celebration of Latino culture at a spectacular street parade at Disneyland Resort called “Viva Navidad.”
This Latino-infused street party and parade is a special place to see all of your favorite Disney characters, and watch a high energy, dancing and musical spectacular, like only Disney is capable of doing. It truly is the “Happiest Place On Earth.” The show runs every day several times a day November 14, 2013 through January 6, 2014, at Paradise Gardens in Disney’s California Adventure. Adults and children of all ages will marvel at the celebration.
The Paradise Garden location is decorated for the season with holly, banners and traditional hand-cut paper art decorations, called “papel picado. The party and parade features music and food from many Latin American countries. One of the highlights is a performance by the Three Caballeros, starring Donald Duck and his amigos Carioca from Brazil and Panchito from Mexico. They kick off a street parade and party that you won’t want to miss. Donald is joined by his friends Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and all of your favorite Disney characters. Many are attired in traditional Latino costumes. The street party is highlighted by 12-foot-tall mojiganga puppet characters of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
In addition, there are folkloric dancers, samba and mariachi bands. Disney bills “Viva Navidad” as a “colorful and fun celebration of Latino culture and holiday traditions.” The holiday spectacular also features face painting and story telling for children, dance lessons, holiday crafts and merchandise areas, and live music throughout the performance. And there is no limit to your dining options in Paradise Garden, which this time of year adds a number of popular Mexican dishes.
