Spend a few days at Disneyland during Spring Break and all of your worries will go away. Can you handle beautiful blue skies and sunny days where the temperature stays in the 70s? You can’t help but notice all of the smiling faces. Kids run over to get an autograph from Mickey. Mom’s are memorializing those special moments and sharing photos with their Facebook friends. Dad is chewing on a giant turkey leg and sneaking a glance at a pretty lady in short shorts. It must be that everyone has caught spring fever!
Spring officially starts on March 21 but Disney’s Spring Break season starts just after the first weekend in March and lasts through the first weekend in May. Spring Break 2015 at Disneyland is about halfway over and it has been amazing. If you went the last week of March or the first week of April, you went at the busiest time. You still might encounter some long lines at the most popular attractions but the crowds are starting to thin out.
If you are among the 20,000 or more people who are going to be attending the Star Wars Celebration VII between April 16 and April 19, you can double or triple your pleasure by also taking in the excitement at Disneyland and California Adventure. Disney, which owns the Star Wars franchise, is offering discounted tickets to Star Wars fans who attend the big event at the nearby Anaheim Convention Center.
If you want to lessen your wait when you go to Disneyland and/or California Adventure over the next month, try going during the middle of the week. Saturdays are always busy at the two Disney theme parks. If this is not your first foray into the Wonderful World of Disney, you probably know some of the standard ways of dealing with crowds. Just in case you don’t, here are a couple of more suggestions.
Get a FASTPASS and save some time waiting in line.
Parades and fireworks usually draw big crowds. If you don’t mind missing these happenings, while everyone is distracted, you can head right in to your favorite ride or major attraction.
If you don’t want to wait a half-hour or more to eat at a Disney restaurant, plan to eat at non-traditional lunch or dinner hours. You can also bring your own snacks.
Crowds should not discourage you from spending a few days at Disneyland and California Adventure. Remember you are visiting the “happiest place in the world.” Why get aggravated? To quote American Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,”All things come round to him who will but wait.”
Want to build a snowman and frolic in the snow? You still can, but you’ll have to visit soon. If you can get to Olaf’s Snow Fest at California Adventure by April 30, 2015, you’ll be have one more chance to experience the winter wonderland.
While you’re in California Adventure, don’t miss the newest and most popular attraction. Cars Land and the Town of Radiator Springs is a great place to meet some of your favorite characters like Lightning McQueen, Doc Hudson, and Mater. Get behind the wheel of a race car and put your driving skills to the test. Can you take the checkered flag?
Roller coaster enthusiasts have got to ride the California Screamin’ coaster that provides non-stop thrills on a more than mile-long steel track. The dips are deep and the curves are cool when you ride this coaster on Paradise Pier.
Disneyland, the original theme park that started it all, is still as relevant today as it was more than 50 years ago. Each of the eight themed lands offers something different. For thrills, head over to Space Mountain or the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Younger kids will love the Teacups, it’s a small world, and The Pirates of the Caribbean.
Let your inhibitions go and have more fun than you’ve had in years. When you spot some of your favorite Disney characters, don’t be shy. Go up to Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and all of the cool costumed ambassadors of Disneyland and say hello. Capture your favorite Disney Spring Break moments and share your experience with your friends and family!
Photographers: thank you for sharing your gorgeous fun filled photos! We wish everyone a wonderful time at Disneyland and hope to see you all one day at the Anaheim Express Inn Maingate!
