Parents and children alike will enjoy a “gentle” adventure through Radiator Springs, the town made famous in “Cars,” one of Disney’s most popular movies. From the time you enter Cars Land in the park, you will be greeted by the six mountain peaks that resemble the tail fins of classic Cadillacs. You cannot leave without a ride on the Radiator Springs Racers.
Beginning your road trip, you will walk through Stanley’s Oasis, the original 1909 settlement from the film. This leads to a cave where the loading station is located. Passengers board six-passenger convertibles decorated with smiling faces. This sets the tone for a whimsical tour through Ornament Valley, which is filled with majestic waterfalls and impressive rock formations. Since the big race is just moments away, you should enjoy the serenity.
Along the drive, you enter the indoor part of the attraction. Everyone is treated to scenes that depict everyday life in Radiator Springs. Little ones will delight in the atmosphere, and adults will be entertained as well. The best part of this segment of the ride is trying to avoid “accidents” with various cars and a speeding train. As the sheriff emerges, guests are warned to proceed slowly and to follow Mater into town. On the way, Mater takes you on a fun tractor-tipping expedition.
You return to town and receive a greeting from some familiar faces. Sally and Lightning McQueen offer everyone a warm welcome. Just as things seem calm, you are about to prepare for the thrilling race. To get ready, your car will either get a new set of wheels at Luigi’s Casa Della Tires or receive a new paint job at Ramone’s House of Body Art.
As you pullup to the starting line and meet your competition, Doc Hudson makes a quick appearance, and Luigi signals the start of the race over Camelback Hills. Your car will approach speeds of 40 miles per hour, and your body will become exhilarated. Although the race brings an adrenaline rush, it is suitable for children of all ages. Even small kids will love the winding turns and humps that cause riders to jump out of their seats. After you fly past Tail Light Cavern, your ride will come to an end, and one car will be selected the winner.
Radiator Springs is one of the most fun attractions at California Adventure. It provides endless memories and the opportunity to enter the iconic “Cars” movie and meet some of its main characters. Both the young and young at heart will enjoy zooming around the track. No matter who wins, the focus is all about the journey.
